Yogurt-agar training treats 1/4 cup water (may need to add a little more) 1/4 cup plain nonfat yogurt 1/2 tablespoon agar agar powder A silicone mold Note that when dehydrated, the treats will shrink to about half their starting size, so choose your mold accordingly. Measure the yogurt and place it in a cup or jar. Let it stand covered for up to half an hour to come to room temperature. Then put some warm water into a bowl and stand the cup of yogurt in it to warm it a bit more. Measure the water into a small pan and sprinkle the agar powder over it. Let it stand for 5 minutes. Whisk the water and agar powder with a fork or whisk. Then bring it to a simmer over low heat. You probably will have to add some more water to keep it from getting too thick and gummy -- it has to stay pourable. Simmer for 2 minutes. Pour a bit of the agar mixture into the warmed yogurt, stirring gently. Continue to add the agar mixture bit by bit, stirring as you go until it's all combined. Now the hard part. Glop some of the yogurt mixture onto a mold and quickly spread it and push it into the cavities. It will gel very quickly, so work fast. You may have to put some of the mixture back into the pan over very low heat if it gets too thick to work with. After all the mixture is in the molds, chill them in the refrigerator for at least an hour -- longer, even overnight, is fine. When they are completely firm pop them out of molds onto a dehydrator tray or screen. Dehydrate at 105-108 degrees Fahrenheit (41 degrees Centigrade) until they are almost to the desired chewy texture that you want. This may take 2 - 5 hours depending on humidity and other factors. These will firm up a bit more as they cool after being removed from the dehydrator, so take them out a little early. Store in the refrigerator. I don't know yet how long these will keep (I just made them yesterday!).
